Virgil van Dijk was in awe watching back an ‘incredible’ piece of skill from Manchester United 0-5 Liverpool. The Reds ran riot at Old Trafford.
No matter what happens this season, we’re unlikely to see a more fantastic result than Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Manchester United. It was as though it were written for Reds.
Liverpool took a 4-0 lead into half-time, with United simply unable to cope with the attack. Then there was a red card for Paul Pogba, a disallowed goal for Cristiano Ronaldo and a wonderful fifth from Mohamed Salah.
Salah, who scored a hat-trick, had one man to thank, though – Jordan Henderson. The Liverpool captain produced a magnificent piece of skill to set up the Egyptian.
And watching it, back Virgil van Dijk believes his Liverpool teammate’s assist was ‘underrated’.
“Wow, what am I seeing here?” said Van Dijk in a video for Quorn. “Outside of the foot. Incredible.
“5-0, Hendo’s pass. Incredible, underrated – no one’s talking about this. Wow, but look at Hendo’s pass with the outside of his foot. Mo only has to do a little work.”

As we wrote at the time, Henderson was just sensational at Old Trafford. His assist was unquestionably the highlight of his display but the captain did everything, controlling United with ease.

But again, that assist was something truly special. It’s not just the technique of using the outside of his foot but how fast he did it. Henderson helped rob Pogba of the ball just inside the Liverpool half and didn’t hesitate to send Salah away.
He sliced Harry Maguire to shreds with the pass, too. It was just technical, creative brilliance from a player not usually commended for it. But as Van Dijk says, the Liverpool captain should be – he’s a world-class midfielder capable of just about anything.
