Liverpool come up against Jarrod Bowen today but is he a future Red? One former teammate of his believes the playmaker is ideal for Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp made it very clear yesterday that Jarrod Bowen is a player he rates highly. That wasn’t so much him suggesting a move is in the pipeline but there’s little doubt that he rates the player.
And that’s in line with what we’ve heard for some time now. The Athletic claimed back in the summer that Liverpool like Bowen and would like to sign him. Now, nothing came of that, of course, but there interest was certainly justified.
Bowen has eight goals and eight assists already this season as he’s exploded into stardom. That will only drive Liverpool’s supposed interest up – and increase his price tag.
Jarrod Bowen and Liverpool
Of course, playing well doesn’t mean you’re necessarily the right fit for a new club. Bowen, though, does tick a lot of the boxes at Liverpool – as we’ve written before.
And now one former teammate of Bowen has made it very clear that the West Ham man has the mentality and energy to make it at the Reds.
Luke Graham played alongside Bowen for Hereford United back in 2014. Bowen only played eight times there before moving to Hull City but Graham got to see what the youngster was about.
“He’s got the mindset. I’m not just saying that because I’m a Liverpool fan!” Graham told talkSPORT.com.
“The modern game’s all about pressing and covering miles and Jarrod Bowen’s a nuisance. Being a nuisance, and having a focused, professional mindset gives him the chance to get to the real highest level.”

“Focused is the word I’d use to describe him. He wanted to learn, he was a sponge. Yeah, he was quiet but he had that desire that you don’t see a lot of young lads have.
“You see these young lads in the lower leagues and they think they want it but he just had it. He had that mindset of if I said something to him then he listened and would look to do it better.”
It is essentially the mentality that every top clubs wants to see. No wonder Bowen has pushed all the way up from non-league, then – he’s got that mindset that Graham talks about. The constant drive to kick on another level and improve.
We imagine Bowen would cost an absolute fortune at this point but the more we see, the more it looks justifiable.
