Jurgen Klopp believes Takumi Minamino just had his best game for Liverpool as the Reds saw off Norwich City in the FA Cup. The Japan international certainly stole the show.

Liverpool are into the FA Cup quarter-finals and for the first time in years. They’ve got a specific player to thank, too – Takumi Minamino. He was the match-winner at Anfield as the Reds knocked Norwich City out.

His first goal was a fine little finish after good work from Divock Origi. The second was all Minamino, though, as he found space on a corner, controlled the ball and emphatically finished in off the post.

Those two goals looked set to start a rout. Instead, they were decisive as Norwich pulled one back in the second half for a 2-1 result. Unsurprisingly, Jurgen Klopp was keen to rave about Minamino after the game.

“He did [make an impression],” Klopp told ITV. “I’m not surprised – Taki is an incredible player.

“A big part of it was, for sure, the best game he had for us. A super game, a constant threat, kept all the balls well. I’m really happy for him. Without him we wouldn’t be in the quarter-final, wouldn’t be in the final of the Carabao Cup. So super guy and really pleased for him.”

Minamino said a few weeks ago that he wasn’t entirely satisfied with his time at Liverpool. He wanted to achieve more and he’s not really wasting any time in doing that.

As Klopp mentioned, Minamino was a huge reason for Liverpool making the Carabao Cup final. His equaliser against Leicester City, after all, was all-important on the road to the trophy.

And now he’s put Liverpool into the FA Cup quarter-final. We’d agree with Klopp, too, in this being his best game for Liverpool. Minamino looked dynamic, strong and intelligent with his movement – it’s rare we’ve seen all three from him.

Long may this form continue, then. Minamino once appeared a lost cause but right now, he’s looking vital in the pursuit of trophies.
