Liverpool get what they need ahead of games against Burnely and Inter with a Jordan Henderson injury update. The Reds are entering a big period.
Jordan Henderson missed Liverpool beating Leicester City on Tuesday evening with a back problem. He was essentially the only injury absence for the game – when was the last time that happened?
Other absences were simply choice. Sadio Mané, for instance, was still celebrating with Senegal, while the likes of Joe Gomez and Divock Origi just didn’t make the squad. That’s the level of squad depth right now.
And Jurgen Klopp confirmed on Friday that things get even better against Burnley as Liverpool welcome back Henderson. That could, if their lucks holds, mean no absences.
“Henderson definitely will be back,” Klopp told a press conference. “That was the plan before the game [Leicester] and that’s the plan now. If nothing else happens, he will play on Sunday.”
Jordan Henderson to return for Liverpool
This carries more than just the benefit of even more squad depth, though. Henderson returns at just the right time for a big week.
He’ll get minutes against Burnley – though, we don’t think he’ll start – before Liverpool travel to take on Inter. That game comes on the following Wednesday and is, of course, massive in the Reds’ season.

The Premier League might actually be out of sight, given Manchester City’s form. The Champions League, though? Liverpool might fancy themselves as favourites.
But part one of that is securing a solid result in Italy against the reigning Serie A champions. Klopp will unquestionably want Henderson for that game, in which Liverpool will prioritise discipline above all else. Just don’t lose and keep things tight.
Liverpool rely on Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Henderson above everyone else for these kinds of games. The captain will need to be at his best for it and using the Burnley game to get back into the swing of things is ideal.
