Trent Alexander-Arnold concedes he’s never scored a goal as good as Liverpool teammate Curtis Jones vs Everton in 2020. The youngster hit an all-timer.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones took part in a game of ‘Bezzies’ for the Liverpool FC YouTube channel this week. It turned out the two of them actually know quite a bit about each other – surprising themselves.

But one of the more interesting questions that came up surrounded scoring for the Reds. Who had scored the best Liverpool goal?

Jones was immediately confident that it was him but it took Alexander-Arnold a second to realise why.

“Ah, that Everton one!” he said. “That Everton one was a banger!”

“I’m gonna say me,” said Jones, to which Alexander-Arnold agreed.

“I’m gonna say you but only because it was against Everton, though.”

“Yeah but lad, you’ve got to give it me for the finish as well.”

“I’ll give you the finish but the fact it was against Everton gave it way more.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold on the best Liverpool goal

We’ll agree with both here. Jones scored an absolute screamer in the FA Cup against Everton back in January 2020 – his first goal for the club. The fact it won a Merseyside derby 1-0 in the cup is special enough, let alone that it was also from 25 yards in off the bar.

Take the occasion out of it, though, and Alexander-Arnold has a case for a couple of his. The strike against Newcastle United this season might be his best – few can hit a ball like that, at Liverpool or otherwise.

And to be fair to Alexander-Arnold, his first goal for Liverpool was also very special. He mentions in the video that it remains his favourite goal for the club – a free-kick in Hoffenheim to help Liverpool through the qualifiers.

Two special goals from two special Scousers, then. Hopefully, there are many more to come.
