Nat Phillips has made a deadline day departure from Liverpool. The 24-year-old centre-back joined Championship club Bournemouth on loan for the rest of the season.
It represented a disappointment for Liverpool who had hoped to secure a transfer fee for the player.

But if he can play anywhere near the level he was for The Reds last season, that should ensure he remains attractive to any potential summer buyers.
Phillips calls on old friends
Phillips sat down to speak with Bournemouth’s media team for the first time yesterday. When asked if he’ll be speaking to anyone about life on the South-Coast, he recalled a familiar name for Liverpool fans.
“I know a few people who live here. Adam Lallana I think’s got a place here, so I’ll be knocking on his door soon, and some other friends as well,” said Phillips via afcb.co.uk.

Lallana began his career in Bournemouth’s academy before moving onto Southampton aged 12. The former Liverpool midfielder also spent some time on loan at the club as a teenager.
The Liverpool connection
Lallana, of course, played for Liverpool for six years between 2014 and 2020. This coincided with Phillips joining the club from Bolton Wanderers in 2016.
Although most of Phillips’ appearances for Liverpool came after Lallana had left for Brighton Hove Albion, they did play together for Liverpool once.

That came on “The Bolton Baresi’s” debut for The Reds. Few can have forgotten The Reds famous FA Cup win against Everton at Anfield in January 2020, the winner courtesy of a screamer from Curtis Jones.
Hopefully the two players get a chance to watch that game back over a cup of tea round Lallana’s!
