James Milner says he’s ‘blessed’ to train with Mohamed Salah at Liverpool every day. The veteran midfielder rates his teammate highly.
James Milner believes he’s playing with the world’s best player right now – no prizes for guessing who it is. In fact, Milner feels training with Mohamed Salah at Liverpool is a bit of a blessing.
“For me, the last few months, if he’s not [the world’s best], there is someone playing very, very well in front of him,” he said, per Liverpoolfc.com.
“For me, he is right up there – the goals he’s scoring, the numbers he’s putting up consistently, goals and assists.
“Obviously I might be slightly biased – and I’m blessed as well because I get to train with him every day and see how good he is in training as well – but I think he has to be the best over the recent months and hopefully long may it continue.
“He’s special. Some of the goals he’s scoring at times, you just have to stop and applaud them really.”

Milner has played with some incredible players over his career, with England, Manchester City and Liverpool, in particular. Salah is likely the first he can label the world’s best, however.
The Egyptian has been sensational ever since joining the Reds in 2017 but just keeps getting better. In fact, 2021 was arguably his best year yet as Salah ascended to become the standout player on the planet.
Salah just lacked a key something across last year – trophies. He’ll look to change that in 2022, though, as he tries to win the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt and bring the biggest trophies back to Liverpool.
Achieve either of those and there’s little doubt that Salah is the world’s best right now.
