Neco Williams is unlikely leave Liverpool today. That’s per The Athletic who give the update as part of their live transfer deadline day news tracker.
The 20-year-old has been subject to interest from Bournemouth. The Cherries were hoping to take the Welshman on loan for the rest of the season.

Liverpool have previously been said to be willing to let Williams leave this window (Liverpool Echo). But the right-back is reportedly now willing to fight for his place in the team as The Reds battle on four fronts.
Williams takes a gamble
It feels like a bit of a punt for Williams to expect game-time at Liverpool. If Trent Alexander-Arnold is fit, he plays. You would imagine that would extend to the Carabao Cup final next month, as well as any remaining games in the Champions League.
That would leave Williams with the FA Cup and potential sporadic appearances in the Premier League.
For a player who will hope to make it to the Welsh World Cup squad in less than a year, that doesn’t feel like enough.

It may have done him good to get out and play regularly, albeit at a lower level with Bournemouth. They are pushing to come back up to the Premier League and it would be a great experience for the youngster to be a part of that.
Fair play, Neco
Whether it’s the right decision from a footballing point of view, you have to admire the attitude of the player here. He clearly has belief in his own ability to get more minutes in the team.
That belief has been echoed in the past by Andy Robertson. The Liverpool left-back spoke very highly of Williams following his emergence in the team during the 2019/20 season.
“I hope he keeps on gaining that experience and keeps getting the game time because that’s so important for him,” Robertson told liverpoolfc.com in July 2020.

“He’s been amazing in training all season so I’m glad he’s starting to get his reward with making his debut, getting his first start and then getting a couple of consecutive starts under his belt.”
Williams clearly has an abundance of talent. But there are parts of his game that need work. At this stage of his development it would benefit him more to be playing week-in week-out.
