Virgil van Dijk hailed ‘magnificent’ Liverpool youngster Mateusz Musialowski after a training exercise for YouTube. The Dutchman loved what he saw.
YouTube channel F2Freestylers went up to Kirkby recently to film a video with Liverpool pair Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson. The idea was simple – can the duo help improve someone’s skills?
Now, neither of them would actually get physically involved here (Liverpool wouldn’t exactly react well to an injury) but they were on hand to give pointers. Someone who was involved, however, was Mateusz Musialowski.
The teenager delivered crosses for the first exercise, running a slalom before pinging one into the box. Musialowski did it so well, too, that he impressed his more senior Liverpool teammate.
“Can we talk about [Musialowski’s] crossing?” said Van Dijk, mid exercise. “His crossing is magnificent. The consistency is scary.”
Van Dijk loves what he sees from Mateusz Musialowksi
Muisalowski is unquestionably one of the more talented youngsters at Liverpool right now. The 18-year-old made the move up to Under 23 level for this season and appears to be finding his feet.
Fans raved about him back in September, for instance, after shining against Porto in the UEFA Youth League. More recently, Musialowski scored as the Reds won their Youth League group.
We’ve consistently been impressed by what Musialowski has done since arriving a year ago. His peak, however, remains that goal against Newcastle Under 18s:

But we’re clearly not the only ones. Van Dijk was very quick to point out how good Muisalowski looks here – and to be fair, his crossing was near-perfect in the video.
Liverpool appear to have another special talent and one who, hopefully, appears in the first-team before long. With the likes of Kaide Gordon and Harvey Elliott around, there’s a very bright future at Anfield right now.
