Here’s the confirmed Liverpool lineup vs Arsenal today. The Reds know they’ll need a win at the Emirates to reach the Carabao Cup final.
Liverpool played out a very disappointing 0-0 vs Arsenal a week ago. Down the 10 men, the Gunners held the Reds at bay for the vast majority of the game, effectively controlling the game defensively.
Thus Jurgen Klopp’s side now travel to North London knowing they’ll need to win. That’s no easy task – though, their opponents can’t rely on the same tactics as last week.
Mikel Arteta swapped to a back-five and sat incredibly deep, limiting all space in and around their box. This time around, however, his side must go chasing at least one goal. They can’t afford to sit quite so deep.
Liverpool should find some more space, then, and Klopp will know it. Let’s have a look a the XI he’s gone for to take advantage.

Reaction
Well, that’s a shock. Klopp has put Kaide Gordon in for the biggest game of his career, hoping he can deliver the goal no one could a week ago.

It’s a brave decision, to say the least. Takumi Minamino is on the bench, after all, but Liverpool start a teenager vs Arsenal. This isn’t just any teenager, though, but one the Reds rate incredibly highly.
Trent Alexander-Arnold called Gordon ‘frightening’ back in the summer, such is his enormous potential. The club see him as a potential star like Harvey Elliott, according to reports, too.
This is a big test, though. If Gordon passes it, we imagine we’ll see a lot more of him in 2022. Time to make a real name for himself.
