Report: Liverpool believe Kaide Gordon can reach Harvey Elliott's level

Liverpool believe Kaide Gordon can become a similar player to Harvey Elliott, according to reports. The latter was a revelation this season.

This comes from the Daily Mail. They claim Liverpool have enormous hopes for Kaide Gordon in senior football. In fact, they feel he can have a similar impact to Harvey Elliott.

That’s a very, very bold claim because Elliott had an unbelievable debut senior season with Blackburn Rovers last year. The then-17-year-old went to a brand new club that wasn’t particularly impressive, yet managed to compete with the very best in the Championship.

Few players can live up to that standard. They certainly don’t do it this young but honestly, Elliott went on to make those performances look minor. His efforts for Liverpool before his injury suggested the talent of a superstar.

Now, Gordon has a lot to live up to if he’s going to do anything similar. But if Liverpool believe in him, we’re happy to as well.

Liverpool back Kaide Gordon

Gordon’s talent isn’t exactly a secret. Trent Alexander-Arnold described him as ‘frightening’ in the summer after training with him for the first time. Fans raved about how good he looked in friendlies, while we think his potential is enormous.

And it’s clear that Liverpool do, too. The Mail’s article claims they’re putting him on a training programme to build up his strength right now, hoping that will ease his transition into senior football.

While Elliott has set fantastically high standards, Gordon is undoubtedly the most likely player to meet them. Liverpool are doing all they can to help him along and that could include a start against Shrewsbury on Sunday.

If Liverpool player their cards right, Gordon and Elliott could be a sensational duo.
