‘He has to leave immediately’: Director says he’ll sell ‘world-class’ player after claims Liverpool want him

Liverpool transfer target Ousmane Dembele is seeking a move away from Barcelona, according to director Mateu Alemany.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has relayed some quotes from the controversial boardroom member and he looks to be on his way out of the Nou Camp.

It has previously been claimed by AS that Xavi is bitterly disappointed with Dembele. Now, it would appear he wants him away from his squad in the near future.

In October it was claimed by TEAMtalk that Liverpool were keen to sign the 24-year-old. Michael Edwards is a big fan and wanted to bring him to Anfield.

Alemany’s comments offer the Reds serious hope of a deal. Liverpool could have a golden chance to land the forward this month and may choose to act.

The Barca director said: “It’s clear that Dembele does not want to continue with Barcelona. He doesn’t want to be part of our project.

“We told Dembele he has to leave immediately. We expect him to be sold before Jan 31.”

The Frenchman has been down the pecking order this season. He’s made just 11 appearances, scoring once and claiming two assists.

Dembele has largely played on the right-wing, although he can play on the left, or through the middle as a striker.

Ex-Liverpool defender Jose Enrique is a huge fan. He called Dembele ‘world-class’ during a Q&A on Instagram back in December.

Golden chance: Liverpool should move for Dembele

This looks like the perfect time for Liverpool to pounce. If Barcelona are keen to sell, an affordable deal could be struck between Liverpool and the Catalan giants.

His wages won’t come cheap. At the Nou Camp, he collects £287,000-a-week and that could provide the Reds with a stumbling block.

Dembele is unlikely to reject the chance to join Liverpool though.

At 24 he has his best years ahead of him and Klopp’s team play some of the most attractive football in the world.

As a versatile forward, he could thrive playing the Liverpool way. He would compliment the current crop of forwards nicely and his pace should make him a serious threat.

Liverpool must grasp this golden chance to land Dembele.
