Former Liverpool player Luis Suarez is fully focused on securing a sensational move to Aston Villa, according to Spanish football reporter Gerard Romero.

He has claimed that the former Reds talisman has rejected several offers. Palmeiras, Corinthians and Atletico Mineiro have all been knocked back.

The Uruguayan has also declined the chance to head to Saudi Arabia, with Gerrard now seemingly in pole position.

Villa fans will have to temper their excitement levels just yet. A deal may have to wait until the summer when Suarez’s contract with Atletico Madrid will expire.

Gerrard added ex-Liverpool player Philippe Coutinho to his ranks earlier this month. He scored on Saturday as Villa came from two goals behind to draw 2-2 with Manchester United.

Suarez is at the twilight of his career. He helped Los Rojiblancos win the La Liga title last season but won’t earn a contract extension.

The 34-year-old is an Anfield hero. He scored 82 goals for the Reds in 133 appearances and also helped himself to 47 assists.

He’s scored a crazy amount of goals throughout his career and even at this stage of his career, he’d represent a coup for Villa.

What have Liverpool fans said about Suarez potentially joining Aston Villa?

It’s important to note that this won’t happen until the summer. Atletico need him right now and he’s scored nine goals for Diego Simeone’s team this season.

If he does join Villa though this would represent a really sound move. So much so, that it’s got some Liverpool fans pretty envious on Twitter.

It would seem as though some Kopites would still have Suarez strutting his stuff at Anfield and have taken to Twitter.

Here is what they had to say over Gerrard casting a flirtatious glance in the direction of former Liverpool favourite Suarez.
