Fabinho just put in a sensational performance for Liverpool vs Brentford. It was one of the best from any Red this season.
Liverpool won comfortably in the end against Brentford on Sunday. Goals from Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Takumi Minamino secured a 3-0 win and the Reds showed more control here than they have in quite a while.
They pressed well, kept the ball even better and just moved around the pitch with ease. It was in stark contrast to what we saw against Arsenal, for instance, when Liverpool were never really able to control the Gunners.
A huge part of all that was Fabinho, who was comfortably our Man of the Match here. The Brazilian put in one of the best performances we’ve seen all season.
Fabinho shines for Liverpool vs Brentford
Fabinho got Liverpool’s opener, of course. It was a back-post header after a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner inexplicably bounced in the box. But honestly, that was the least of his display here.
Defensively, he was near-perfect. He picked up two interceptions, won a match-high five defensive headers and even though he missed both attempted tackles, Fabinho was a constant presence as he pressed high to halt Brentford.

With the ball, he was arguably even better. Fabinho boasted a 92% pass completion here – the best of anyone on the pitch – with 66 completions. These weren’t simple passes, either, as he created four chances in the game.
That was more than any other player – an incredibly rare feat for Fabinho. His passing is usually safe, rather than creative. Here he managed both.
In some ways, this was a particularly important performance. Jurgen Klopp started Curtis Jones in midfield here, after all, as Liverpool went particularly attacking. Certainly, more attacking than with James Milner in there.
But Fabinho was able to hold the fort down at the base of midfield, frequently isolated as players pushed on. All in all, Liverpool can’t ask for more from the Brazilian. He was world-class here with a performance that fans should shout about.
