Melkamu Frauendorf is earning praise from coaching staff after making his second Liverpool debut in two days. The German looks like a potential star.

What a week for Melkamu Frauendorf. The 17-year-old made his senior debut for Liverpool at the weekend, coming on for the final 10 minutes against Shrewsbury Town.

Frauendorf looked confident, too. He won two tackles in those 10 minutes and constantly tried to dribble the ball – three times he attempted a take-on, though only found success once.

For such a short debut, Liverpool will have liked what they saw. But what’s really impressive is that he went and made another debut the very next day.

Frauendorf made the step up from Under 18 level to play his first game for the Under 23s in Premier League 2. He did that on Monday, a little over 24 hours after playing under Jurgen Klopp for the senior side.

Lewtas praises Melkamu Frauendorf

“He had such a high the day before, coming on at Anfield to play for the first team, and that is a big emotional moment, it really is,” Barry Lewtas said after Frauendorf played for the Under 23s, per Liverpoolfc.com.

“For some boys, it can drain them having to play the day after for the U23s, but to perform the way he did he was excellent against a good opponent. He dribbled, he ran at them, he was positive and brave and out of possession, his pressing was excellent.”

Liverpool have a lot to shout about when it comes to their young players. They have someone 20 and under with considerable talent in every position right now and Frauendorf contributes to that.

His rise has been clear for a little while now, too. His December was fantastic for the Under 18s, leading to these promotions and there’s a good chance Frauendorf will continue to climb like this.

Will we see more of him this season? We’re not sure about senior level but it certainly seems as though he’s an Under 23 player now. Liverpool might have another special talent here and we can’t wait to find out.
