Liverpool midfielder Thiago will begin a rehab program from Monday, according to Jurgen Klopp. The Spaniard’s issues continue.
Jurgen Klopp Thiago will return to Liverpool and start rehabilitation over a hip injury from Monday. He says this after the player missed the 4-1 win over Shrewsbury Town.
There had been rumours spreading that Thiago would be out for the season or, at best, March. Klopp dismissed those concerns, however, saying that those dates hadn’t crossed his mind at all.
“No, neither March or end of the season is in my mind,” said Klopp. “It’s around the hip, that’s the situation and it needs time.
“Didn’t train this week but we expect him to be back for rehab from Monday. He’s not out until end of the season. Not at all.”
Thiago to behing Liverpool rehab from Monday
Thiago has had terrible luck with injuries since arriving at Liverpool. He suffered a long-term injury at the hands of Richarlison on his first start for the club but actually battled a problem for the entire season.
That was part of the reason Klopp said we hadn’t quite seen the best of the ‘world-class’ player back in the summer. The hope was that Thiago would recover and really show his best form over this campaign.
We’d argue he did that, too, and some of his displays have been remarkable. Unfortunately, injuries have Thiago out of the Liverpool lineup once again.
So while it’s good to hear that Thiago won’t be out for the season, it’s a major disappointment that he’s out for a spell. Liverpool could really use him right now, with no one else really able to offer what he does in midfield.
In fact, Liverpool look a far better side with Thiago in it. While he’s out, their trophy pursuit will suffer – let’s hope the midfielder returns soon.
