Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harvey Elliott and Kaide Gordon look like Liverpool’s future right now. The trio are forming a new jewel in the Reds’ crown.
For years, Liverpool have built success around their front-three. Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino operate wonderfully together.
They complement each others’ style, work incredibly hard as a unit and their cohesion is the backbone of Jurgen Klopp’s team. They are undoubtedly the headline act at Liverpool, even if certain players are arguably better individually.
But the future likely doesn’t feature them. All three will turn 30 in the next year and Liverpool will start to move on.
It looks, however, as though another three-man jewel is forming. Liverpool’s right-hand side could quickly become their go-to.
Alexander-Arnold, Elliott and Gordon
Trent Alexander-Arnold is undoubtedly the future at Liverpool. He’s a star already at just 22, having broken records and delivered the biggest trophies going.
And we recently wrote about a potential right-sided partnership with Harvey Elliott. Along with Salah, those three could be something to watch this season as the teenager breaks into the first-team squad.
Elliott looks set to play as a central player this season on the right of a midfield three. But as a natural winger, he can drift out wide to link with Alexander-Arnold, potentially letting the Scouser move inside on occasion.
Both are incredibly talented players. Alexander-Arnold is one of the most successful 22-year-old players going, while Klopp believes Elliott has enough talent to ‘excite the football world’ – not just Liverpool.
Those two, just four years apart in age, are enormous parts of Liverpool’s future. The fact they play on the same side is just wonderful – but it gets even better.
The hype keeps growing around Kaide Gordon. Alexander-Arnold himself just praised the 16-year-old, in fact.
“Kaide has so much potential; it’s frightening, really,” he told the Athletic.
And given how Liverpool have used the teenager in pre-season, it appears they see him as a right-winger. In other words, he’ll play with Elliott and Alexander-Arnold on that flank.
Liverpool’s gifted trio
That’s an incredibly gifted combination. All of whom are young and all of whom should develop together for a long time to come. They could easily develop similar cohesion to the famed front-three.
In fact, Alexander-Arnold mentions in that Athletic interview that he’s deliberately trying to mentor the two teenagers. They’re already developing as a unit.
These three really could become the next jewel in Liverpool’s crown. If all goes well, this is a trio the Reds can build success on going into their next era.
We think it’s something fans can really shout about and we might see it in action as soon as this season.
