Liverpool won’t get the transfer they want in January, according to reports. Raphinha is set to wait until the summer – despite strong interest.
This comes from the Mirror. They say that Liverpool, along with Bayern Munich, want to secure a transfer for Raphinha.
Now, Leeds United don’t want to sell the Brazilian – unsurprising, given his importance to them. But there’s always a sense with a transfer like this that the player could force a move.
But Raphinha won’t do that, says the report. He may want to move up a level and leave Leeds but that certainly won’t happen in January. Anyone wanting to sign him must wait until the summer at the earliest.
Liverpool must wait for Raphinha transfer
This isn’t the first time Liverpool have been linked with Raphinha. Far from it, in fact – this is one that keeps popping up. Fabrizio Romano, for instance, mentioned the weight of Liverpool’s interest last month.
“I would keep an eye on the situation of Liverpool,” he told Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel.
“They wanted him last summer. He was one of their targets. They wanted to sign a winger but it was impossible to sign him because Leeds wanted to keep him and the price was too high, it was more than £60m.”
Honestly, none of this is surprising – least of which Liverpool’s interest. Raphinha is consistently looking like one of the Premier League’s best wingers, despite Leeds struggling this season.
£60m might even be a fine price for someone this good and Liverpool could use the extra attacking depth. Who knows? Raphinha could even be their long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
We imagine Liverpool will watch the Brazilian closely over the rest of the season, then. This is certainly one to watch very closely.
