Competition fierce at Liverpool as Conor Bradley makes ‘big improvements’

Competition looks fierce at Liverpool right now as Conor Bradley makes the ‘big improvements’ many expected. What do the Reds do from here?

Right-back is simply overwhelmed with talent at Liverpool. We’re honestly not sure what they should do – there are three young players with incredible ability.

Top of the pile is Trent Alexander-Arnold, of course. He’s not only the best right-back at Liverpool but the best in the world. He keeps getting better and better – a scary prospect, given he’s still only 23.

Then there’s Neco Williams. He’s enjoying something of a breakout season, with the 20-year-old thriving for Wales and really impressing whenever he’s put on a Liverpool shirt. We’re already unclear on how he gets games, though.

And you can then add Conor Bradley to the mix at Liverpool. The club rates him very highly, something that was very apparent in the summer. The Athletic reported that the Reds could sell Williams because Bradley looked like such a top talent.

They clearly expected him to kick on this season and Under 23s coach Barry Lewtas says that’s exactly what’s happened.

“Conor had some tough days but good days as well and he never shirked a challenge,” he told Liverpoolfc.com. “I think this season you can see the benefit of that.

“Physically, he looks really good and technically he has made big improvements both in and out of possession. He is playing with more confidence now.”

So that’s three right-backs, all of whom are young and all of whom are developing rapidly. What do Liverpool do?

What do Liverpool do with Conor Bradley?

The only way all three get a decent number of games is if Alexander-Arnold moves position. We’re not sure why Liverpool would do that, however, as the Scouser is currently the most creative player in England. What does the team gain from moving him into midfield, say?

Well, maybe they gain another quality right-back. Liverpool can’t afford to leave Alexander-Arnold out, meaning Williams barely plays – let alone Bradley. But if he did move, then perhaps the other two could rotate in coming seasons.

Otherwise, we don’t see how Liverpool make this work. Both Bradley and Williams are so talented that the club can’t just leave them on the bench every week. They need to play to develop.

Perhaps a loan for one of them makes the most sense, then. Williams, in particular, could easily play regular Premier League football with the right move. At least Liverpool can put the problem off for another year with that.
