Liverpool transfer target Karim Adeyemi has picked his new club, according to reports. The 19-year-old is one of Europe’s hottest prospects.
We’ve written a lot about Karim Adeyemi over this season. Reports linked Liverpool with a move way back in September and they’ve continued at a steady pace ever since.
It helps that Adeyemi has been fantastic over that period, of course. The RB Salzburg striker has lit up the Austrian Bundesliga, scoring 11 goals in 16 games, and consistently impressed in the Champions League.
The latter is the big one. Adeyemi has been incredibly difficult for the likes of Lille, Sevilla and Wolfsburg to handle.
Nothing shows that more than the fact he won three penalties in one game against Sevilla and another against Lille. He then scored a wonderful goal against Wolfsburg that we imagine Liverpool loved.
All in all, here’s a 19-year-old who’s already good enough to play in the Champions League. He’s got pace, he’s hard to track and he can’t stop scoring. What’s not to love?
Goal claims Liverpool have had eyes on Adeyemi since 2018, with the likes of Orf and Sky Germany believing that interest moved up a gear this year. However, the Reds weren’t unique in that.
And it appears that the right club has turned Adeyemi’s attention towards them.
Sky Germany now claim that Adeyemi wants to join Borussia Dortmund. A move there is now ‘95% certain’, apparently, as everyone is happy with a potential deal.
Karim Adeyemi wants Dortumund move
It sounds as though Liverpool didn’t actually have a great chance here in the end. Adeyemi, it seems, is actually prioritising the German national team with his next move.

He believes that performing well in the Bundesliga is his best shot at getting a solid international role. That essentially rules out moves to England or Spain, where interest was strong.
Liverpool will likely have to look elsewhere in the next two transfer windows, then. For now, anyway – perhaps this is one they can revisit down the line, albeit at a much higher price.
