Jurgen Klopp is apparently ‘super happy’ with Thiago right now after recent weeks. It’s a wonderful sign for Liverpool fans.
Thiago joined Liverpool over a year ago now but it feels like we’re only just seeing him at his absolute best. Last year, after all, was topsy-turvy to say the least.
His first start for the club ended with a horror tackle and a two-month injury lay-off. In fact, Thiago says he battled an injury problem for the entirety of his debut campaign.
And that carried over into this one. We barely saw Thiago before November as he sat on the sidelines. Fortunately, that period appears to be over.
The 30-year-old is currently playing regularly and playing incredibly well. He’s adding another dimension to the side and truly looks like the world-class player we all hoped for.
But that might not even be the main reason to get excited about the last few weeks. We recently wrote that it appears there’s a newfound trust in Thiago’s fitness, with Jurgen Klopp starting him in back-to-back games.
The boss had worries over players featuring in a Wednesday game and then a Saturday game, with the Reds facing Porto then Southampton. He left Joel Matip out of his team against the Saints as a result but Thiago remained for both.
The Spaniard then started against Everton, making it three games in eight days. That’s a wonderful sign that, perhaps, Thiago is over his injury problems.
And per Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool may truly believe that’s the case.
Jurgen Klopp ‘so happy’ with Thiago
“There were rumours about Barcelona, but, let me clarify,” Romano said on his Here We Go podcast.
“Barcelona have had no contact with Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp is super happy with Thiago, with how Thiago has recovered from injuries

“It was not easy for him to adapt to English football, but now it looks like the perfect process.”
Recent games pointed in that direction and it appears Liverpool really do feel good about the player now. Is he over his injuries? We’re still going to cross our fingers on that one but we’re encouraged.
And if Klopp really is ‘super happy’ with Thiago’s recovery, it suggests there’s a real positive feeling at the club about his future with Liverpool. This was always the biggest step to unlocking his time with the Reds – perhaps we really are about to see the best of him.
