Liverpool are pushing to the front of the queue for Carney Chukwuemeka, according to reports. The Aston Villa teenager has rejected a new contract with his club.
This comes from the Guardian. They claim Carney Chukwuemeka has said no to a new Aston Villa contract.
Chukwuemeka is one of the brightest young players in England right now, carrying a big reputation. However, he’s not getting opportunities with Villa and now believes he can do better.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all ready to pounce, says the report. The 18-year-old can effectively just sign somewhere else as things stand, with a tribunal deciding the eventual fee.
The Reds, then, will see Chukwuemeka as another potential gem.
Liverpool chasing Carney Chukwuemeka
Liverpool are making a habit of picking up the best English youngsters they can find. We’ve seen it with Harvey Elliott, then Kaide Gordon and now Chukwuemeka could be next.
In fact, Elliott joined in a similar fashion, with a tribunal deciding his eventual fee after leaving Fulham. Liverpool have a history with this kind of deal – expect them to seriously consider another.
Obviously, we don’t know all that much about Chukwuemeka other than he’s one of the most promising young English players. We did tip him as a potential target earlier in the year, however.

He was part of the Villa team that beat Liverpool in the Youth Cup final. It’s no great surprise that the Reds would have eyes on the situation, then.
But there is another consideration here. Chukwuemeka hasn’t got enough opportunities to date but Steven Gerrard has just taken over as Villa boss. The ex-Red could see a change in how the teenager is used and, potentially, that could sway him the other way.
So this is one to monitor. We won’t get excited about adding Chukwuemeka just yet but it does seem very possible.
