Liverpool get the right answer with reported Karim Adeyemi desire

Liverpool will like the sound of things as Karim Adeyemi reportedly makes his desire known. The Reds are linked with the RB Salzburg forward.

There is great hype around Karim Adeyemi right now. The 19-year-old is scoring at a wonderful rate, with 11 goals in 13 Austrian Bundesliga fixtures.

His Champions League performances are impressive, too. Adeyemi somehow won three penalties in his first game against Sevilla and then won another (which he then scored) against Lille.

Throw in a great goal against Wolfsburg and it’s easy to see why clubs line up to sign the latest top talent from Salzburg.

And it shouldn’t be any surprise that Liverpool are one of those interested parties. In fact, Goal claim there’s been interest since at least 2018 in Adeyemi.

But both Orf and Sky Germany believe the Reds still have eyes on the youngster. His speed, energy and direct play all fit Liverpool’s attack like a glove.

There’s a problem, however. The better Adeyemi does, the more clubs find an interest and it appears to be starting a bidding war.

That’s not something Liverpool typically get involved in. Adeyemi’s price is already high and likely to rise further – despite the hype being on just a few months of football.

We’re not sure Liverpool will justify £30m+ for a 19-year-old with an impressive six months of football. That seems to be the going rate for January, anyway.

But perhaps a new report offers real hope.

Adeyemi has Salzburg desire

Per Sport1, Adeyemi isn’t actually interested in a January move. He wants to see out the season with Salzburg.

We think that benefits Liverpool. It means they’ll have a full season to go on when it comes to actually putting in a bid – something they’re almost certainly more comfortable with.

Adeyemi also isn’t necessarily what Liverpool want in January. Per Fabrizio Romano, the Reds want a winger to cover AFCON absences, which makes sense.

Adeyemi likely could play out wide but he’s more of a centre-forward. He’s probably not the right kind of cover for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

So again, the timing works out for Liverpool. If Adeyemi can stick around in Salzburg until the summer, the Reds may fancy their chances.
