Curtis Jones will remain out with an injury, says Liverpool’s club doctor. The youngster has a nasty eye problem.
Curtis Jones missed a couple of Liverpool games with an eye injury ahead of the international break. He was a real miss at a time when Naby Keita was also out – though, Thiago’s return certainly helped.
Regardless, the hope was that Jones would recover post-international break. The nature of the injury, however, means he could still be out for some time.
Liverpool’s club doctor, Jim Moxon, explained the situation to Liverpoolfc.com.
“It’s a freak injury and very unlucky, but the important thing to emphasise is there is no lasting damage and his vision won’t be impacted beyond the recovery period,” said Moxon.
“However, the nature of the issue means caution is important; we need to allow it time to heal and we can’t rush it, therefore it won’t be a speedy return.
“It needs to mend before we are able to reintroduce Curtis to full training, but there are things he can do in the meantime to maintain fitness.”
Curtis Jones remains out with eye injury
This is a real shame as it initially appeared that Jones would return to face Arsenal at the weekend. Instead, we won’t see him for quite some time.

Liverpool should have enough to cover him, though. Thiago is back, as we mentioned, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continues to impress this season.
Jones was enjoying a decent campaign, with some incredibly promising performances. It’s incredibly disappointing to see his momentum slip like this – especially after an even worse situation with Harvey Elliott.
But while we might not see Jones face the Gunners, it shouldn’t be long before he’s back. Liverpool will have eyes on a busy December period for his return – let’s just hope the other midfielders can stay fit until then.
