Liverpool lost 3-2 to West Ham United on Sunday and some fans believe Jurgen Klopp got his players wrong. The Reds struggled badly over the 90 minutes.
Liverpool were pretty terrible against West Ham. They eventually lost 3-2 but the overall performance was embarrassing at times.
The Reds struggled to get going in attack, creating very little despite their two goals. Defensively, they were all over the place. West Ham essentially powered through them up the middle of the pitch to little answer.
But really, the lack of control Liverpool showed was the real worry. The Reds just couldn’t stop West Ham from pushing forward when they chose to. Nor could they create enough with the ball.
That was pretty evident in the first half, which led to fans calling on two substitutions at half-time. Jurgen Klopp didn’t deliver them, however.
Fans wanted two Liverpool players vs West Ham
It’s hardly a shock that fans wanted Kostas Tsimikas on the pitch for this one. After all, he has a perfect defensive record this season, conceding literally zero goals while on the pitch.
Andy Robertson struggled, too, which really added fuel to the fire on this one. A half-time change always felt unlikely but it’s fairly easy to understand the fans’ calls here.
As for Thiago, we find that one hard to judge. He’s just back from injury and Liverpool may not feel he’s ready for an intense 45 minutes.
Thiago also didn’t exactly shine once he did get on in this one. A couple of misplaced passes came at terrible times.
But look, Liverpool didn’t play well here at all. We wouldn’t have complained with a single player leaving the pitch here, nor a single one coming on.
Things needed to change and, perhaps, that should have happened earlier. Our only real problem when it comes to substitutions was Klop waiting until 68 minutes.
