Scary Liverpool will get even better with 'world-class' return

Here’s a scary thought – this Liverpool side should improve even further before long. The Reds are flying right now as everything comes together.

It hasn’t even been a week since Liverpool tore Manchester United apart at Old Trafford. We’re not sure the high will disappear for a long time to come, though.

But really, this entire season has been a high up to now. Liverpool have scored for fun since day one and remain the only unbeaten Premier League side.

That unbeaten stretch includes both the EFL Cup and Champions League, too. Things have gone near-flawlessly up to now.

The pinnacle will probably always be beating United 5-0 but there’s a lot more to shout about. Such as Liverpool scoring at least twice in every game since August.

In fact, they’ve scored at least three times in nine of their last 11. They’ve scored five in three of their last six. It’s sensational stuff.

Yes, the draws with Chelsea, Brentford and Manchester City were frustrating but if that’s all there is to complain about, it’s safe to say things are going well. Especially from a side that has seen midfielders drop like flies and had to nurse their centre-backs to fitness after months out.

And yet there’s a genuine sense that things might soon get even better.

Scary Liverpool will improve

It appears that Thiago will soon return to action. He may even get minutes today, actually, according to Jurgen Klopp.

Thiago has only started twice for Liverpool this season, playing a total of 196 minutes. Basically, we’ve barely seen him and the Spaniard hasn’t had an impact.

That’s a shame, of course, but it comes with a positive. Liverpool’s form this season has come without a ‘world-class’ midfielder. Without one of the game’s premier passers and someone who looked absolutely outstanding to finish last season.

It’s not even a case of Liverpool simply playing well without Thiago, either. They won both of his starts 3-0 and he played brilliantly in each. This is undoubtedly a great side with him in it – and there’s a sense that we still haven’t seen his best.

So here’s a Liverpool team that’s flying high and is about to add a world-class midfielder to its options. Rivals beware.
