4-3-3 & a very attacking midfield: Predicted Liverpool lineup vs Brighton

Here’s our predicted Liverpool lineup to face Brighton in the Premier League. The Reds return home to Anfield after several trips away.

Liverpool’s run of away trips comes to an end on Saturday as the Reds host Brighton. It’s been a productive excursion, to say the least.

Liverpool beat Watford 5-0 then snatched a 3-2 win at Atletico Madrid. Then came the ultra-memorable 5-0 at Old Trafford, followed by a 2-0 victory in the EFL Cup at Preston North End.

Surely, then, that stretch of wins doesn’t end at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp certainly has some selection decisions in front of him as he looks to return with a bang. Fortunately, most of them are very positive.

Liverpool vs Brighton

Klopp surprised everyone by selecting Ibrahima Konate at the back alongside Virgil van Dijk at Old Trafford. The Frenchman hadn’t featured for over a month.

Both Joe Gomez and Joel Matip then started at Preston, with Matip going off at half-time in a planned substitution. It’s not particularly clear what he does here, then.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

Does Matip’s sub mean he’s starting this one? Or does Klopp stick with the defence that battered United?

We think he might keep the back five as it was last weekend. With Atletico visiting Anfield next week, Matip and Gomez have their chance in a big game.

Fabinho didn’t feature last weekend and he wasn’t pictured in training photos on Thursday. We wonder if he’s still not 100%. If so, it makes sense to save him for Atletico – maybe play him off the bench here.

That would mean Jordan Henderson in the holding role once again. Klopp’s other midfield options are very attacking – Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Thiago is back in training, we should add, but we can’t imagine he’s ready to start this one.

Instead, we’ll go with Keita and Jones. Both have been very impressive in recent weeks and we’d love to see what they can do together.

Mohamed Salah feels like the only absolute guarantee here. Everyone is playing well and could either drop out or start – it’s a wonderful situation.

Sadio Mane didn’t start against United, meaning he’ll surely get the nod here. We think Klopp might start Jota here, too.

If the midfield is going to be very attacking, Firmino’s ability to drop back isn’t quite as vital. This might be a nice time to rotate him for a start against Atletico.

Predicted Liverpool lineup vs Brighton

Alexander-Arnold – Konate – Van Dijk – Robertson
Keita – Jones
Salah – Jota – Mane
