Juventus want Aurelian Tchouameni, according to reports. They hope Liverpool’s interest isn’t strong, however.
This comes from Tuttosport. They claim Juventus are high on Aurelian Tchouameni and would like to sign the Frenchman.
They’re worried, however. A string of elite European clubs – including Liverpool – also like Tchouameni and could move for the midfielder. Juventus hope that their interest isn’t strong enough to compete for the player.
Otherwise, the Italians believe their chances of signing Tchouameni dramatically decrease as clubs muscle them out of the way.
Tchouameni is in very high demand right now after a magnificent campaign with AS Monaco last season. He’s continuing his wonderful form this time around, too, and started for France as they won the Nations League.
It certainly feels as though a big move is on the horizon.
Juventus chase Tchouameni
Tuttosport are not the only ones reporting Liverpool’s interest. ESPN said similar last week. That outlet also named a price – roughly £42m. Pay that and Monaco would likely sell their prized asset.
We think Tchouameni is fantastic and his accolades largely speak for themselves. Ligue 1 Team of the Year, French Young Player of the Season and now a Nations League winner.
On top of that, his statistics are remarkable for the number of tackles he wins as a 21-year-old.
We entirely believe that Liverpool have genuine interest, then, but Juventus might be right in that it’s not interest they act upon. Tchouameni is a wonderful defensive midfielder but not necessarily what the Reds need to spend on.
Not while Fabinho is in his prime, anyway. While it’s possible to justify the outlay on Tchouameni, we just can’t see Liverpool doing it. It would take a horrible injury or a real change of strategy to make it work.
For under £42m, this could probably happen. But Tchouameni continues to grow his reputation at a remarkable rate. As long as he does that, his price-tag will only increase and a move to Liverpool becomes less realistic.
