Liverpool beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 on Tuesday evening in the UEFA Champions League. Here are the Reds’ three best players from the win.
Salah was quieter here than he’s been in recent weeks. Still, the Egyptian did the work that got Liverpool into the lead.
He danced by three players with the ball, trying to work a shot. James Milner diverted his eventual effort in – but it was Salah who made things happen once again.
Add in his winning penalty and it’s clear that Liverpool get little here without Salah. That’s now nine games in row he’s scored in – what a sensational player.
It’s rare that a goalkeeper can concede twice and still play well. Alisson managed that, though.
His save from Antoine Griezmann in the first half stands out. In truth, Liverpool needed the Brazilian on a fair few occasions. Alisson proved, once again, that he’s one of the world’s best shot-stoppers.
And it’s not the first time we’re saying that this season. Liverpool have been little shaky in a few games and Alisson has been there to save them.
With Salah producing magic up top and Alisson acting as a brick wall at the other, Liverpool enter every game with an advantage.
Matip maybe didn’t completely shine and had a couple of nervy moments. But once again, the defender did enough to win Liverpool this game.
He finished this one with one interception, two tackles and four aerial duels. Most impressively, the latter two statistics came with a 100% success rate.
Matip more than played his part in this win and comes out of the 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid as one of Liverpool’s best players. We’re really seeing just how badly the Reds missed him last season.
