‘Wow’, ‘Brilliant’: Legendary strikers line up to hail Mohamed Salah after Watford goal

Mohamed Salah scored another wonder goal against Watford on Saturday. He had some of England’s greatest ever strikers lining up to praise him.

Liverpool played on Saturday so you know what that means – Mohamed Salah did something incredible. Actually, he did multiple incredible things.

But much like against Manchester City, Salah’s goal was so good that no one is talking about the world-class assist. It was a sensational assist, though.

Salah pinged a perfect through-ball in front of Sadio Mane with the outside of his foot, all while on the run. Brilliant stuff but just amateurish in comparison to his goal.

The Egyptian made Watford look pub-league with his control in the box, weaving in and out of three defenders, sitting one down, and curling the ball into the far corner.

It was almost as good as his City goal – and that’s high praise.

Unsurprisingly, people lined up to hail Salah for the goal. The 29-year-old had some of England’s all-time great goalscorers applauding him – and rightfully so.

“My, my. Mo has morphed into Messi,” wrote Gary Lineker.

“Wow …. #howgoodwasthat,” came from Robbie Fowler.

Alan Shearer simply said, “Brilliant” (along with plenty of applause emojis).

And while not exactly known for his goal-scoring, Jamie Carragher also made his feelings known on Salah after the goal.

“Best player in the world right now [Salah],” he wrote.

What an incredible moment it was and we’re certainly on board with Carragher here. Karim Benzema is performing to an unbelievable level with Real Madrid but Salah is performing the miraculous every week, now.

We wouldn’t swap the Egyptian for anyone on the planet – and we’re not sure we could have said that about anyone over the last decade. Maybe Luis Suarez in late 2013 but even then, he had prime Lionel Messi to contend with.

What Salah is doing right now really does feel like a level above anyone else. What a sensational player.
