Four reported Liverpool transfer targets received Kopa Trophy nominations on Friday. We have a look at all four and which players may suit the Reds best.
Bellingham is undoubtedly one of the biggest prospects in football right now and is a frontrunner for the Kopa Trophy. He’s almost certainly a high-priority Liverpool target – assuming the price is decent.
A trophy-winning season with Borussia Dortmund preceded a record-breaking summer. Bellingham became England’s youngest-ever European Championship player and, briefly, the youngest Euros player outright.
Homegrown rules place extra attention on English players, of course, and Bellingham will be in very high demand. The Daily Star claims Liverpool are near the front of the queue.
Again, though, it surely depends on Dortmund’s demands.
Gravenberch likely won’t win the Kopa Trophy but he’ll be near the top of the Liverpool shortlist next summer. Goal claims the Reds are big fans and even had a look in 2021.
The Dutchman is the latest star out of Ajax’s famed academy. He’s shone in the Eredivisie and Champions League, earning himself a place in the Netherlands’ Euro 2020 squad.
But talents don’t remain at Ajax for long and Gravenberch will surely be on the move somewhere before long. Hopefully, Liverpool make themselves a possible destination because the 19-year-old is one impressive player.
Doku really caught the eye for Belgium at Euro 2020 as his pace and dribbling was a handful for every defender. But then, he’s had Liverpool’s eye for some time.
The Reds tried to sign Doku years ago, per the Guardian, but he opted to remain with Anderlecht and take smaller steps. Now at Rennes, the truly big step could be coming soon.
Liverpool supposedly still have interest in the winger, too. We think he’s one to watch in 2022 – Doku may fit in nicely as the future of the Reds’ left flank.
Wirtz might be the most in-form teenager around right now. He only turned 18 in May but is already a full Germany international and is simply thriving in the Bundesliga.
Wirtz has four goals and five assists in six Bundesliga games. He has another two goals in the Europa League.
In fact, the teenager has provided a goal or assist in every game for Bayer Leverkusen this season. And that includes a season opener in which he played nine minutes.
Wirtz looks unbelievably good right now and, fortunately, Liverpool want him. That’s according to Christian Falk of Bild, anyway.
We’re certainly crossing our fingers on this one.
