Liverpool have an interest in Florian Wirtz, according to reports. The Reds are one of a host of clubs chasing the teenager.
This comes from Christian Falk of Bild. He claims Liverpool are looking at Florian Wirtz after an incredible start to his season.
They’re far from the only ones, however. Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal also have eyes on the player.
The leaders for his signature? Bayern Munich – he is a German footballer, after all.
It’s worth noting that these sides are looking as far ahead as 2023. It’s unlikely that Bayer Leverkusen sell before then, apparently – this could be a lengthy process.
Liverpool chase Florian Wirtz
This is one we’ve been waiting for. Wirtz has been electric to start the season and is a player that every top club should be looking at.
Wirtz only turned 18 in May but started 25 Bundesliga games last season, scoring five goals and assisting another five as an attacking midfielder.
This season, though, he’s kicked on another gear. Wirtz has only played 292 minutes so far yet has four goals and four assists. That’s a ridiculous record for any player, let alone someone who isn’t even halfway through being 18.

So far this season, Wirtz is averaging 1.4 shots per game, 1.4 dribbles per game and creating 2.2 chances per game. He’s also winning 1.4 tackles. Again, they’re incredible figures and while the sample size is small, it’s incredibly encouraging.
We could be witnessing the rise of a truly special player here. Even if Liverpool don’t have much room for him, we still think they should have their focus on Wirtz.
Could they fit him in a side with Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott? We’re not sure. But perhaps Wirtz is the answer to Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino problem.
He’s so wonderfully complete as an attacking player, could False 9 be his future? Liverpool could have two years to figure that out.
