Liverpool cruised to victory against Porto this week. The Reds were in full control throughout. Two players put in particularly strong performances when standing in for absent stars. James Pearce has reported that Liverpool will start Curtis Jones and James Milner against Man City.

When the Champions League group stage draw was made some Kopites were nervous.
Milan, Atletico Madrid and Porto. The Spanish champions, Italian legends and an impressive Portuguese side.
Plenty of us thought surely we can’t batter Porto again. It turns out we can.
This week Jürgen Klopp’s men travelled to Portugal and made it 14-2 to the Reds over the last three games at Porto.

Curtis Jones and James Milner put in outstanding performances for the Reds.
The Scouser in particular dominated and was rightfully named man of the match.

This weekend Liverpool take on Man City at Anfield.
The game is a title race six pointer, victory for the Reds could prove decisive come the final reckoning.
During the post match discussion for The Athletic, James Pearce discussed team selection for the game.
When asked if James Milner will be starting at right back the journalist responded, “yes, I’d say so. He was being wrapped in cotton wool there for the final 20 mins.”
The reporter also commented, “I’d say [Curtis Jones is] nailed on to start. Can’t possibly leave him out after that.”

You simply can’t leave either player our after those performances.
Jones in particular was simply outstanding, he’s really stepping up this season.
If he puts in a similar performance against Manchester City he could make all of the difference on Sunday.
