Liverpool fans are no stranger to misery surrounding the fitness of the first team. Last term the Reds were utterly devastated by injuries with players dropping like flies throughout the campaign. It’s happening again. Trent Alexander-Arnold hasn’t travelled to Porto.
Season to forget
As much as Kopites want to forget last season the campaign will live long in infamy.
It will be remembered as the most sterile, nothing season we’ve had in some time.
By November the campaign had been written off due to injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
Thereafter players continued to drop at a rate of knots with only a handful of first team stars finishing the campaign without having spent a spell out.
It was an absolute miracle that Liverpool managed a third placed finish.
Trent Alexander-Arnold misses Porto
This season we’ve already seen fitness woes take their toll.
Roberto Firmino was sidelined for a few weeks after limping off against Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Thiago has been ruled out until after the international break with a calf problem sustained during a tie with Crystal Palace.
Now we’ve got to worry about the Scouser in our team. Trent Alexander-Arnold hasn’t travelled to Porto.
The right back took part in the open training session on Monday afternoon but was not part of the 22-man squad which flew to Portugal.
What RTK has to say
This is a massive concern for Kopites.
Trent Alexander-Arnold missing Porto isn’t ideal but him potentially missing Manchester City is a disaster.
The Scouser is imperative to how we play, having him absent for one of our biggest games of the season would be nightmarish.
