Liverpool are always on the lookout for the next best thing. The Reds have been hoovering up wonderkids from far and wide in recent years and the strategy is starting to pay dividends. We may have to wait for one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting players. Reported Liverpool target Florian Wirtz is staying put for a couple of years according to his dad.

Wonderkid recruitment
Recent years have seen the Reds strengthen the academy ranks regularly.
In the wake of the Champions League win in Madrid the only two outfield players the Reds signed were Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg.
Since then we’ve added the Polish Messi, Mateusz Musialowski and the best 16-year-old in the country, Kaide Gordon.
In the net the U23s have the heir to Alisson Becker, Marcelo Pitaluga.
More recently we’ve seen the arrival of Bobby Clark, former star of the Newcastle United academy.
Liverpool target Florian Wirtz update
Over in the Bundesliga there’s a new kid on the block, the next Kai Havertz.
Speaking to Sport1, Bayer Leverkusen youth coach Patrick Helmes claimed that Liverpool wanted Florian Wirtz prior to his move to the Bundesliga side.
Since then The Express has claimed a number of Premier League clubs are tracking the teenager’s progress.
This term he has four goals and four assists in five Bundesliga games.
Speaking on the interest in his son, Florian Wirtz’ dad has insisted that the youngster will be sticking with Leverkusen for a couple more years.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Florian Wirtz would be exciting.
His staying in Germany a while longer has its pros and cons.
For instance, he’ll develop better as a guaranteed starter for the Bundesliga side.
However, the longer he impresses for Leverkusen the higher his price tag when the time comes.
Hopefully, if he’s the right player then the Reds will break the bank to bring him in in 2023.
