Liverpool have two injuries to contend with against Brentford, Jurgen Klopp confirms. The Reds will have to do some moving around.
Jurgen Klopp gave a fairly thorough report on Liverpool injuries ahead of the trip to Brentford this Saturday. It seems the Reds will be missing two first-teamers for the clash.
“Naby [Keita] probably not [available],” said Klopp, per Liverpoolfc.com. “It’s not a serious thing but we have to wait until the pain settles, pretty much. We will see about that.
“Thiago, no chance.”
Keita started the fixture against Norwich City on Tuesday but went off at half-time. Klopp confirmed an injury after the game – the 26-year-old had kicked the grass and pulled something.
Now, that sounds more stupid than it probably is but fans couldn’t help but roll their eyes at Keita’s latest setback. It’s one that, seemingly, rules him out of at least one game.
As for Thiago, it sounds as though he’s got something more serious. He went off after an hour last weekend and the issue appears to be quite bad. Klopp doesn’t even bother leaving the door open for a quick return.
It’s a blow for Liverpool. Klopp has started with at least one of the pair in four of their five Premier League fixtures this season.
And the positive stuff
Keita and Thiago are almost certainly out, then, but Liverpool do have some positive injury news, too.
Klopp confirms that both Trent Alexander-Arnold and James Milner are over illness and should feature. Both will be key, of course, especially if things are light in midfield.
Neco Williams is nearly back, too. He requires further testing but there’s a chance he’s able to play in this one. Though, Alexander-Arnold’s return likely means we won’t see him regardless.
There’s apparently an outside chance that Roberto Firmino faces Brentford. Again, it’s a case of wait and see.
