Football is the world’s longest running soap opera, at times it drifts into pantomime, complete with heroes, villains and jeering crowds. The Kop has elected a few panto villains down the years, now a Manchester United legend thinks we should sign one. Rio Ferdinand has urged Liverpool to move for Raheem Sterling.
The Raheem Sterling saga
Back in 2015 the Reds were slapped in the face.
Aidy Ward went public with his quest to secure a megabucks move for his client Raheem Sterling.
The then 20-year-old winger was one of the brightest talents in the game at the time.
He had been a standout performer during the Reds’ closely ran 2013/14 campaign.
Then his agent mouthed off in the press about how his client wouldn’t sign a new deal at Liverpool even for £900k-a-week.
City bought Sterling for £49m. Years later Ward is now in trouble for targeting underage players.
Liverpool should sign Raheem Sterling
At the minute the Englishman is out of favour at Manchester City.
Just why he is has baffled Rio Ferdinand. The Old Trafford icon has said that Liverpool should sign Raheem Sterling, telling his FIVE Youtube channel, “if I’m Liverpool, I’d buy Sterling tomorrow.”
However, he did go on to add that his old club should also be in the conversation should the forward become available.
What RTK has to say
Personally, I’d take him. The fact that an investigation has been launched into his agent’s dealings is further evidence that we can’t hold him responsible for the controversy when he was a kid.
Liverpool would benefit greatly from having Raheem Sterling at the club.
He is experienced, he’s a winner and he’s the right age to take over from the current front three.
