Liverpool should sign Jude Bellingham in 2023 amid transfer claims

Liverpool fans have been gasping for a midfielder to be signed. The Reds lost their most reliable man in the middle over the summer and no replacement was brought in. This week Liverpool have been linked with Jude Bellingham. We should wait until 2203 before making our move.

Current midfield roster

Liverpool fans are worried about the midfield despite the amount of options available to Jürgen Klopp.

The problem isn’t quantity but reliability.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was a standout performer in his debut season but a nasty knee injury completely derailed his Anfield career.

Likewise Naby Keita has failed to remain consistently fit due to a string of fitness problems.

Worryingly captain Jordan Henderson is looking more error prone by the season.

Then there is the advancing age of James Milner.

We need fresh blood to replace the reliability we had with Gini Wijnaldum.

Liverpool linked with Jude Bellingham

The story of the week has seen the Reds linked with the brightest young midfielder in world football.

The Daily Star was the first outlet to report that Liverpool want to sign Jude Bellingham.

According to the outlet the Reds are prepared to pay £80m for the 18-year-old.

Meanwhile The Times and Sport1 have confirmed Anfield interest in the youngster.

In addition, The Times claimed that Dortmund won’t consider a sale until 2023 with Erling Haaland expected to depart in 2022.

2023 ideal window for Liverpool move

It just so happens that 2023 suits us down to the ground.

We expect a midfielder – perhaps Franck Kessie – to come in next summer.

His job will be to provide cover for Fabinho whilst bolstering the boss’ options in the middle with a summer exit expected; one of James Milner, Naby Keita or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be moved on.

At the start of the 2022/23 campaign Jordan Henderson will be 33-years-old.

Given his recent injury record we expect the skipper to take a step back at that age.

Who better to step up than Jude Bellingham, a midfielder well prepared for the task with three years as a regular starter under his belt.

2022 could be too soon, 2023 would be just right.
