Future England captain?

Trent’s relationship with the national side is a complicated one.

He is by the best right back in the country but Gareth Southgate’s other options are hard to leave out.

At the moment the boss can pick between the Scouser, Reece James, Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker.

Last season Trent found himself left out of the squad whilst the Reds were in poor form.

He clearly took the snub personally as he hit his best form of the season immediately and earned a call up to Euro 2020 which he unfortunately missed due to injury.

This week he has outlined his ambition of becoming captain of his country one day, a not unachievable feat given his age and potential.

Trent Alexander-Arnold centre midfield

This weekend England take on Andorra in a World Cup Qualifier.

Gareth Southgate is expected to name a rotated and experimental starting lineup.

According to The Telegraph, Trent Alexander-Arnold will start in centre midfield, though he could also appear on the right of a four man set up.

Apparently the Scouser has been used in the middle of the park in training and he has impressed.

Twitter reaction

Plenty of fans are excited to see how the Scouser gets on whilst others aren’t convinced.
