Liverpool have a number of players out on international duty at the minute. All eyes are on one player in particular. The England squad is full of talented full backs, forcing Gareth Southgate into finding solutions. According to The Telegraph, Trent Alexander-Arnold will start in centre midfield for England against Andorra.
Trent’s England heartbreak
Last season the Reds endured an injury crisis like no other.
Jürgen Klopp lost every senior centre back to injury and the ripple effects led to a massive drop off in form.
The side’s form was so bad that Trent Alexander-Arnold missed out on an England call up in the spring.
The snub clearly spurred him on as the Scouser hit his best form of the season thereafter, earning a place in the squad for Euro 2020.
Unfortunately, the right back didn’t make it to the tournament after he picked up an injury in the dying minutes of England’s final warm up game.
Trent Alexander-Arnold centre midfield for England
This weekend the Three Lions take on Andorra in a World Cup Qualifying match.
Gareth Southgate is reportedly set to make a bold call with his lineup for the game.
The Telegraph has claimed Trent Alexander-Arnold will start in centre midfield for England.
The outlet has reported that the boss has used him in the centre in training sessions though he could also play on the right of a four man midfield.
What RTK has to say
Well we can’t say we didn’t see it coming.
Fans and pundits have been calling for Trent to return to midfield for some time. Gary Lineker has been a particularly ardent campaigner.
Fingers crossed he excels in the role and we see Jürgen Klopp consider the switch himself.
