Lack of arrivals

Kopites wanted a defender, a midfielder and a forward this summer.

The Reds solved the most pressing issue with immediacy with Ibrahima Konate signed before the window even opened.

Thereafter we saw a parade of exits with fringe players sold and youngsters loaned out.

Despite the vast amount of players moved on the Reds opted not to bring anybody in.

Liverpool fans were hoping for a midfielder to replace Gini Wijnaldum and a forward to bolster the boss’ options in the final third.

Liverpool can still move for Franck Kessie

The lack of midfield arrivals has left the door open for a move next summer.

Remarkably, there’s a number of high profile players set to leave on free transfers at the end of the season.

One such player will be facing off against the Reds in the Champions League group stage.

Liverpool could still move for Franck Kessie on a free transfer due to the lack of midfield signings this summer.

The Ivorian dynamo has become a pivotal part of the AC Milan starting XI.

From January he can negotiate a free transfer with his current deal expiring.

Edwards not moving for a midfielder this summer has left the door open for Liverpool to negotiate with Kessie.

To sign the 24-year-old a free would be a real coup.

He is getting better every season and he is nowhere near his prime.

Versatile, athletic and tenacious he has all of the attributes to play in the middle for Jürgen Klopp.

Kopites should keep an eye on him in our group games.
