Liverpool transfer news: Reds open late talks for Yves Bissouma

Liverpool have made an official transfer enquiry about Yves Bissouma, according to reports. The Reds don’t have much time left.

This comes from the Express. They claim Liverpool want Yves Bissouma before the transfer window shuts next week.

Thus they’ve made contact with Brighton and put in an enquiry. The Seagulls will supposedly want around £40m for Bissouma.

The Ivorian would be a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, who left Liverpool on a free transfer this summer.

Liverpool make Yves Bissouma transfer enquiry

We’ll start off by saying that the Express isn’t the strongest Liverpool source. But they might have an inside track at Brighton, to be fair.

As for the potential deal itself, we can’t see a single negative with it. Bissouma is a fantastic player and one we’ve talked about a lot over the last year.

Liverpool have been linked with him quite a lot. The Athletic went into this summer saying he was a target, for instance, and Goal said the same.

And that wasn’t a surprise. We’ve said before that Bissouma is an excellent player and he’s only proving that correct with his performances to kick off this campaign.

He’s a very hard-working player who can pass well and break up attacks. Liverpool lost a lot of that with Wijnaldum’s departure but Bissouma would quickly add it back.

The 24-year-old is a slightly more defensive player than Liverpool’s former no.5 but that’s okay. The Reds’ midfield options are a little overloaded with attacking players, after all.

It’s worth adding that this is the second report in quick succession linking Liverpool with talks. Duncan Castles told the Transfer Window Podcast that the Reds were one of several clubs to do so.

Undoubtedly, it’s one to watch over the next few days. We’d love to see Bissouma at Liverpool – hopefully they can pull it off.
