Liverpool have found out their Champions League Group Stage opponents after the draw was made this afternoon. The Reds were drawn alongside Atletico Madrid, last season’s quarter finalists Porto and AC Milan. Twitter has reacted to who Liverpool got in the draw.
Liverpool exit last season
Last season was one to forget for Liverpool.
The Reds were knocked out in the quarter finals of the Champions League by Real Madrid.
In truth, we couldn’t have expected anything else given the selection difficulties.
The Reds headed into the first leg with a makeshift defence with Ozan Kabak and Nat Phillips having to face off against Karim Benzema and co.
The first leg finished 3-1 in Spain with the Reds out of the tie in the first half.
At Anfield we saw an entertaining yet goalless draw with the hosts giving a thoroughly good account of themselves given the circumstances.
Liverpool Champions League Group Draw
We’ll be hoping for a much better showing this season.
As long as the Reds can keep the majority of the first XI fit for the season we should see Jürgen Klopp’s side be there or thereabout towards the end of the campaign.
Today Liverpool learned their Champions League Group Stage opponents with the draw made in Istanbul.
The Reds will face Atletico Madrid, the side which knocked Liverpool out the season before last.
Jürgen Klopp’s men will also take on last season’s quarter-finalists Porto.
The final side drawn in Group B was AC Milan. We all know the history there.
