Liverpool are back in their groove. The Reds are joint top of the league with two wins from two, life is rosy again. Over the weekend we saw an impressive win over Burnley with a wonderkid standing out. Jordan Henderson has heaped praise on Harvey Elliott for his performance.
Liverpool 2-0 Burnley
Kopites packed Anfield on Saturday afternoon with the ground full for the first time since March 2020.
The home fans were treated to a comfortable win over Sean Dyche’s Elite Wrestling Burnley side.
Diogo Jota opened the scoring for the hosts, heading home an exquisite cross from Kostas Tsimikas.
The Reds’ second came when Harvey Elliott expertly chested down an inch perfect Virgil van Dijk pass.
The youngster found Trent Alexander-Arnold who flicked a cute ball through to Sadio Mane who finished lethally.
In truth the score line was kind on a reckless Burnley side.
Jordan Henderson on Harvey Elliott
The weekend saw our star boy given his full Premier League debut.
Kopites were buzzing with the 18-year-old’s display as he livened things up in the midfield.
Speaking after the game, Jordan Henderson heaped praise on Harvey Elliott:
“Harvey’s a special player. He’s been fantastic last season when he was on loan at Blackburn and then he’s come back in great shape for pre-season and done really well, so he deserved his start today and I thought he took it.
“I thought he was outstanding, his work rate, but also obviously the stuff he can do on the ball, the final passes. Overall I thought he was outstanding.”
What RTK has to say
It’ll be hard to drop the lad after that game.
Harvey Elliott was a standout performer against Burnley.
Chelsea may come a smidge too early for him but we expect him to be involved regularly after the international break.
This lad has a bright future ahead of him, we can’t wait to see how far he can go.
