Jordan Henderson had praise for Diogo Jota after his teammate scored once again on Saturday. Liverpool saw out a 2-0 win over Burnley at Anfield.
A proper Anfield crowd returned to the stands on Saturday as Liverpool played host to Burnley in the Premier League. The Reds gave them something to shout about, too, as they ran out 2-0 winners.
Diogo Jota got the first of those, continuing a hot start to the season for the 24-year-old. He met a Kostas Tsimikas cross in the first half to head home for the lead.
And that comes after scoring Liverpool’s opener against Norwich City last weekend. Two in two is a pretty ideal way to start the season, with both being eventually decisive goals.
That was enough for Jorda Henderson to pay tribute to Jota after the game.
Henderson on Jota
“He has got the magic touch,” said Henderson, per Liverpoolfc.com. “Around the box he’s lively and he manages to make the right runs.
“And when he gets in front of goal he normally scores. He has been outstanding since he has come back and hopefully he can continue.”
The hype around Jota continues to grow as he shows his debut season wasn’t a one-off. There’s a reason Pep Lijnders considers him to be ‘pure Liverpool’, after all.
And this was a wonderful all-around performance. Jota scored one, created two chances, won four tackles, and completed 95% of his passes.
You can’t really ask for more from a centre-forward.
As Henderson says, he’s just got that magic touch right now. And the longer his brilliant form goes on, the more magic Jota looks.
We always thought it would be very, very difficult for Liverpool to find someone who could break into their famed front-three but they’ve done it. Jota isn’t just a great option – he’s one of the best players at the club right now.
