Liverpool fans are crying out for a midfielder to arrive at the club. The Reds have lost a key man from the middle and at the minute we’re lacking a flair player in that position. Liverpool could finally sign reported target Martin Odegaard with Real Madrid allegedly willing to sell the Norwegian for £35m.
Midfield needs
On paper Liverpool look stacked with midfielders.
However, that depth is paper thin. Enough of the Reds’ midfield is injury prone for fans to be worried.
Furthermore, we lack a flair player in the middle of the park.
Of course, Jürgen Klopp’s midfield demands functionality first but since the departure of Philippe Coutinho we’ve been without a player who can ghost past the opposition, who can pull out that moment of magic to spark an attack out of nothing.
Liverpool could move for Martin Odegaard
In 2014 the football world was scrapping over Martin Odegaard.
The then 15-year-old had lit up YouTube with his dominant performances in the Norwegian top flight.
The wonderkid trained with the Liverpool first team at Melwood but eventually opted for a move to Real Madrid.
He hasn’t established himself as a regular in the Madrid side despite promising spells with Real Sociedad and Arsenal.
AS reported earlier this year that Liverpool still have an interest in Martin Odegaard.
Goal has this weekend claimed that Real Madrid are open to selling the midfielder.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports has stated that he could be available for as cheap as £35m with Arsenal in pursuit.
At just £35m Liverpool signing Martin Odegaard makes plenty of sense.
He is the type of player we need, he is young with a wealth of first team experience and the ability to craft something out of nothing.
Furthermore, he is incredible versatile: he can be deployed on either wing, as a centre midfielder or in a more advanced role.
We need to steal a march on Arsenal here, Jürgen Klopp could turn this 22-year-old into a world class star in a matter of months.
