Liverpool fans are crying out for new signings. The Reds have only made one addition to the first team whilst our rivals have gone out and spent big money. As a result plenty of Liverpool fans are angry at news that Xherdan Shaqiri won’t be replaced.
The Reds are currently short of a midfielder and an attacker.
As it stands there is four players covering three positions up top (discounting Divock Origi).
This simply isn’t enough in terms of depth and competition, particularly with the African Cup of Nations coming up this year.
Meanwhile, the midfield has lost one of its most reliable components in Gini Wijnaldum.
The Dutchman rarely missed a Premier League game under Jürgen Klopp, his free transfer to PSG could prove a big blow if we pick up some injuries.
Xherdan Shaqiri replacement
The coming days will likely see Xherdan Shaqiri sold.
The Swiss international has made his intentions clear: he wants a new challenge.
This is understandable, he’s an incredibly talented footballer, too talented to be sat on the bench every week.
L’Equipe has reported that Xherdan Shaqiri has agreed personal terms with Lyon whilst the two clubs work out a fee.
In addition, The Mail has claimed that the plan is for Harvey Elliott to replace Shaqiri in the Liverpool first team as opposed to signing a replacement.
Plenty of fans are furious with FSG’s refusal to dip into their pockets whilst some supporters are happy for Elliott to make the step up.
