Liverpool took on Norwich this evening with the Reds hoping to get their Premier League campaign off to a strong start. Thankfully they did just that with three points and some clinical finishing. Here are our Liverpool player ratings v Norwich:

Alisson Becker – 9
The Brazilian keeping a clean sheet is important but he didn’t have a tremendous amount to do today until an incredible piece of keeping in the final minutes.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 8.5
The Scouser was solid defensively and used the ball well when his teammates found him.
Virgil van Dijk – 8.5
The Dutchman didn’t have much work to do, he lost track of Teemu Pukki on occasion but he’s been out for a year. His passing was marvellous as ever. A reassuring return.
Joel Matip – 8.5
See above.
Kostas Tsimikas – 6
He’s not Andy Robbo but he was enough. The Greek left back was found wanting occasionally defensively but he delivered an overall encouraging performance considering he’s still adapting to the Premier League.
James Milner – 7.5
The senior pro behaved like one today, can’t really fault him. He was functional.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6
The Ox didn’t do enough to show he should be starting when the first choice stars are back.
Naby Keita – 6
See above. Largely anonymous. He’s shown us he can ghost past players, where was that?
Mo Salah – 10
Salah gets generously credited with an assist for the Reds’ first half goal but he thoroughly deserved the credit in the second half. He thoroughly deserved his goal.
Sadio Mane – 8
Sadio once again worked tirelessly, he may not have grabbed a goal today but it could’ve been any of them.
Diogo Jota – 8.5
The Portugal forward was anonymous at times but came up with the goods when it mattered. He always does.
