Liverpool have a number of world-class players in their squad.
Fans of every club will acknowledge that the likes of Alisson, Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah are among the best players in the world. These are just three of numerous examples of truly elite footballers that the Reds have at the minute.
Yet we believe that there are three more players in the squad that can make that step up to the world-class bracket this season.
With Liverpool opening their Premier League season tomorrow night, here are three Reds that we think could be known as world-class by all by this time next year.
Ok, this is cheating slightly. We are aware that Thiago Alcantara is already a world-class footballer.
But many non-Liverpool fans seem to have forgotten it.
It probably stems from his lack of goal contributions during his debut campaign, which was simply a bad season for the whole club.
Yet we know that goal contributions are not the main thing that Thiago brings to a side.
His underlying numbers are simply immense, while you can tell by looking at him that he is a special player.
If he plays the majority of Liverpool’s games next season and the Reds are successful, we can guarantee that every football fan around will recognise him as one of the best midfielders in the world once again.
In terms of sheer ability, many could make the case that Naby Keita is already world-class too.
He ranks among the very best players in the world for all the important midfield statistics.
Considering that he was signed for £53m (Sky Sports), this is to be expected.
The issue is availability. Keita has not been able to play enough games in a row to show the world how good he really is.
Whether he can finally put a run together this season is anyone’s guess.
But if he manages it, it won’t be long until fans of other clubs notice how good he really is.
Again, if he is a regular and the team is successful, then he will be seen as an elite No 8.
This could be the season that the famous Liverpool front three finally breaks up.
Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have been integral parts of the great success that we have had in the last few years. Yet Diogo Jota is ready to take one of their places.
We believe that he will go on a streak of excellent form that will make it impossible for Jurgen Klopp to leave him out. This will then lead to him becoming a world-class forward for years to come.
Assuming he stays fit, we expect at least 15 goals and five assists in the Premier League, but would not be surprised if it is much more.
If he does hit the 20 league goal mark and helps Liverpool win trophies, there will be no denying that Jota is a world-class player.
