Liverpool are in need of quality in depth. The Reds are currently short of numbers in attack and a signing or two could give us the necessary cover and competition. According to reports in Belgium, Liverpool are considering a bid for Jeremy Doku.
Next Sadio Mane
19-year-old wide forward Jeremy Doku plays for Rennes in France.
He joined the Ligue 1 side from Anderlecht last summer in a deal worth around £22m.
Doku is a player who has been on the Liverpool radar for some time.
As per The Guardian, Liverpool tried to sign him in 2018.
He was invited to Melwood and he was told that the Reds saw him as the heir to Sadio Mane.
The young Belgian decided against a move to England, seeing a clearer and quicker path to the first team if he signed with Anderlecht.
Liverpool consider Jeremy Doku bid
The Reds need to bring in some competition and cover for the front three.
At the minute we have four players for three positions, that isn’t enough when you’re competing domestically and continentally.
According to Voetbal24, Liverpool are considering a bid for Jeremy Doku.
The Reds are said to have been impressed by the youngster’s showing at Euro 2020.
However, the youngster won’t come cheap. Rennes could demand a fee in the region of £38m for the teenager.
What RTK has to say
We can’t see the Reds coughing up £38m for the winger.
However, we can see Rennes accepting a much lower fee.
The French side are in the same boat as the rest of them in Ligue 1, the entire division is in a financial lurch due to a botched TV rights deal.
Hopefully Michael Edwards can talk the French side down, this lad has plenty of potential.
